About Me

To tell you more about my background as the Clinical Director – I am a Clinical Psychologist, which means I have an undergraduate degree (first class Batchelor of Science BSc Degree) in Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) from Hull York Medical School. Clinical Psychologists in the UK trained in this way therefore undertake a minimum of 6 years of training and have often done previous work in the area and engage in further training post qualification.

I have additional training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) being an Accredited Practitioner, with published work in this area, provision of training onto the training course and at national conferences on using CAT with trauma-related difficulties particularly. CAT is recommended for issues arising from problematic patterns in relationships and is a time-limited approach usually of 16-24 sessions.

I completed my training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 2010 and have been using this approach for over a decade to great effect. EMDR is an evidence-based approach for working with trauma related difficulties including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I also have specialist expertise in using this with complex difficulties including multiple traumas, chronic / long term related difficulties and both childhood and adult trauma.

I use a variety of other approaches depending on the issues you wish to work on and what suits you. We will discuss this in our first session and make a plan of treatment following this – which will be flexible and responsive to your needs as therapy progresses.

In my clinical background, I have held senior NHS posts in specialist services, including secondary care adult traumatic stress services, specialising in complex trauma related difficulties, and also led a Looked After Children Team within CAMHS/child and adolescent mental health services working closely with social care services and foster cares and working directly with children in foster care or adoptive families.

We also have other associates working within the practice utilising EMDR, CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and CFT (compassion focused therapy approaches). Our associates are also highly trained Clinical Psychologists with NHS experience and up to date skills and knowledge in the field of mental health.

We are registered with a range of health insurance companies such as AXA PPP and Vitality so please let us know when you enquire if you wish to claim through your insurance.

Please get in touch to discuss fees and to book in for an initial consultation with either our Director or Associate Clinical Psychologist.
